Karen E. Burks, M.A. began her career in the financial institution industry in 2007. While working the financial institution industry, Karen noticed a barrier surrounding basic money management principles, which initiated the launch of her business.
Karen serves as the Founder & CEO for Burks Management Firm, where she aids her clients with tools to successfully meet their financial recovery through financial education and small business consulting.

Karen Elizabeth Burks
Karen is native of St. Francisville, Louisiana, and the Founder & CEO of Burks Management Firm. Burks Management Firm is business consulting firm where she provides clients with financial education training, executive leadership coaching and business strategies. She has been providing technical assistance training to small business owners while facilitating business and economic education classes. She has worked with a host of nonprofit agencies, schools, corporations, and individuals sharing her expertise in facilitating executive leadership training, workshops, seminars, and retreats. She has over fifteen years of expertise in the financial institution industry and five years in workforce development implementation and training. As a top performing career banker, workforce trainer and financial educator practitioner. She’s the children’s book author of the best-selling financial literacy activity coloring book of “Making Sense of Dollar$ and Cent$.”
Karen was named the New Orleans City Business 2018 Money Makers recipient.
Karen was the 2019 recipient of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (COGIC)
40 under 40 award featured in The Whole Truth magazine. Karen was also awarded the 2020 Louisiana Volunteer Champions of Service Award presented by the administration of the Lt. Governor of Louisiana Billy Nungesser. Karen now serves as a Commissioner with Volunteer Louisiana to meet the needs of Louisiana’s citizens through volunteerism.
Karen is a first-generation college graduate. Her academic advancement includes an Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology from Baton Rouge Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University and Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. She became certified Personal Finance professional at Cowin Financial Literacy Institute at Teachers College at Columbia University. Karen is a graduate of the National Urban League Congressional Advocacy Program and National Urban League Emerging Leaders Fellow through Georgetown University. Karen received a certificate from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Authentic Leadership program.
